So, after 6 boards ranging from the early 250W PU wheeled boards with weak batteries to what I'm about to reference, the Titan is excellence in all regards.
First off- the debate between hub vs Direct drive vs Belt drive-- The Titan is an example of where application perfectly applies to the boards needs. Hub motors on a all-terrain board to me, and many others, make sense. Typically water-resistant, sand/dustproof (almost). the lack of space and unsealed parts you find in a hub motor vs its other options puts it way ahead for upkeep and a 'new rider' looking for a solid investment.
Second - follow that up with the proper wheel size (190mm!). its a great balance of torque / mobility / weight. I live NYC and have worked with a road that goes from glass - like asphalt to a suddenly broken road, if you've been in that situation, its chaos that ends with a crash, a close call with traffic, or damage to the magnets due to a bad impact, DONT HAVE THAT FEAR! this board can take on surface change like nothing I've used -- and I own a 10inch off-road monster with dual shocks (mototec 1600w AT skateboard).
Lastly - and most importantly for consumers these days- this can carry the weight; AND MORE. the torque simply is something i have not witnessed in hub motors on skateboards. this kinda pick-up is seen with electric bikes typically decked out with heavier motors and more dense batteries etc. Be Careful! start slow. this can nearly wheely on full throttle. I have fallen once (my own fault). and felt how much i need to respect these motors. Nothing like it really on market. 9/10. great job boundmotor!
After a month of use i think i can tell anything about it:
First of all: im a longboard rider but this is my first electric one, i decided to start with an all terrain one because the streets usually are not very smooth and i though this could allow me ride with more trust. And i was right , i can go to the sidewalk when the traffic is to messy , go back to the street or the bike lane in case there is...
I must confess that i though this longboard would be a bit smaller in general , and not that heavy , but im not a small (90 Kg ) guy neither so i though the titan should be the best choice. This board is stealthy and i love it so much. I choose the huge battery and i still dint go so much long to notice that im running out of battery . The top speed is more than i will never need ... im still using the lowest gear of the 3 options i have and i cant even push "the pedal down" not even going uphill ... this thing is powerfull
I must say i dont like so much the double kingpin trucks because it seems like it make you more likely to suffer the damn speed woobles when you push too much on the pedal but when you need to turn in not so much space this is what you need. The future must be something like a truck that goes smoother or more rigid depending on the speed or able to config with a button :)
PD: btw the after sale service seems to be really nice in case you have any issue or question about the board
I was one of the first to pre-order this board and it arrived very well packaged. It’s amazing on both roads and gravel tracks. Incredibly quiet, most people can’t believe it’s electric.
I have 3 other all terrain electric boards:
1.) evolve carbon gtr
2.) backfire ranger x2
3.) raldey carbon AT
And the bound motor titan is tied for my favorite with the backfire ranger x2.
Pros:
- The wheels - I never thought a airless tire could feel as smooth as a pneumatic but boundmotor has proven me wrong. These tires are better and more comfy under foot than the raldey and the backfire.
- Nice carving ability
- Has a reverse mode
- deck is nice. Not too stiff but not to flexible either
- nice top speed
- much better brakes than the raldey and evolve
- the charger - this thing is awesome. It has a fan that cools it down and just seems like it’s built to last
Cons:
- a bit heavy at 33 lbs. but the reverse mode makes that easier to deal with
- trucks - they aren’t bad trucks, but I think there’s room for improvement.
Overall, it’s a great board!
I’m going to get tighter bushings for it and I wish the remote had a screen and finger hole like the backfire remote.
